Portuguese Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai was a surprise for its originality!

Portuguese Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai was a surprise for its originality. The design, by architect Carlos Couto, was developed in harmony with the «Better City, Better Life» concept, by using cork as the solution for an environment-friendly construction in the future. Corticeira Amorim materials were applied as an aesthetic element, on the interior coverings and in technical solutions.
The Por...tuguese Pavilion won the Design Award, given by the International Exhibition Bureau and the Architecture Award for Best Public Work, in a vote by subscribers of the newspaper Construir. Almost five million people, the equivalent to around half of the Portuguese population, visited the pavilion in what was the largest universal exhibition ever.
